I dont have a permit.
Virginia lets you use anything, with a permit.

Also, according to the law I need a bucket of water for spent fireworks. Gotta get on that.

Didn't stop us from launching rockets a few years ago in Va. Hell, my dad tried to hit the neighbor's roof on purpose (which he did, but it skipped off).

And then there was the brilliant decision to try a two stage rocket by placing one on top of the other but lighting the bottom one's fuse first by a second. That went as it should. The first rocket took off, pushing the second rocket up a bit but that one just fell over and aimed at the garage door. Then off it went (like a rocket) and impacted/detonated against the door.

Ah drunken Southerners... my heritage.

we were promised 'pics', as in plural. so far i only see one of the incident.

Only one of them looks decent. The others are similar but lower quality. Also, if I can figure out how to perfectly balance the shutter and aperture, I'll have pics from tonight.

I wear pants so I can take them off when I come across the right thread.

It's more ceremonial than anything.

That was shit.

The Shark lasted 15 seconds and made a tiny show.
The Renegade lasted 30 seconds and was only slightly larger.

The smoke stacks were garbage too. As were the sparklers.

WTF?

FUCK FIREWORKS! FUCK THEM!

You can afford to be reckless in a place with regular rain in the summer.

Maybe I should have said lololololol instead.

But hey - take your rage out on me, I can take it. It'll make you feel better about that sorry ass fireworks display you put on =P

Fireworks rock. You need to just buy better ones.

I remember the time I bought professional display fireworks instead of garden fireworks by mistake once.

That was fun.

i love freaking fireworks but theyre illegal almost everywhere in the bay area now. luckily in the last 10 or so years there are always people who have these professional grade fireworks that you can see from miles away, which is a good thing since most cities in the bay area canceled their fireworks, i think due to budget problems. when i was a kid they only allowed "safe and sane" stuff, but there would always be someone in our neighborhood who would go to chinatown and get stuff like firecrackers and m80s

I remember we used to blow up M80s next to unsuspecting joggers and cyclists. The looks and falls were epic.

My brother-in-law spends $2000-$3000 on fireworks every year. While it's an impressive display when he lights them, my general reaction is thinking what else he could have bought instead of that. I guess I've just outgrown the concept of lighting money on fire.

depends on the state laws. for example here in florida you can't legally fire anything that 'leaves the ground'. So sparklers are ok, basically. But there is a weird loophole that is isn't illegal to buy any kind of fireworks. You just have to 'promise' you aren't going to actually shoot them. ():)

there are some people trying to get the law changed, but it hasn't yet, i don't think.

As for ripping off images from games, Phantom gave me this as a free gift:
