I am building a aria box and my SI-97 wont fit so what is the shortest in height that is copper and will use a 80mm fan... on a socket A mobo...

Server heatsinks would probably be your best bet (1U or 2U heatsink), if you need it really short.

You might look at the Alpha PAL8150. It's not especially short but it isn't the size of your SI-97, closer to the size of a stock AMD cooler. I use a quiet NMB 80mm fan on mine and my temps are sub-40C on my Winchester 3000+. Sidewindercomputers.com has some uber-quiet NMB 80mm's for $5 at the moment, btw.

Agreed.

you can get a customized minifan from server retailers for that mini hs

I've got that TT HSF. The fan is the worst fan of any size I've ever heard. It vibrates like hell, and sounds the same.

If you could get a different fan to fit, the heatsink might be ok.......but those fins are really short.
