Is it my imagination, or are there a lot of tall people in Midwest whereas folks on the coast tend to be shorter?

I'm about 5'9". Where I live in Ohio, most guys seem to be well over 6'. I'm going to school on the East Coast now, and I seem to be average height now (it's pretty cool actually :D) I noticed the same thing when I went out to California last year.

One thing I have noticed is that most folks in the Midwest are of Northern European descent, whereas here in New York state they tend to be Southern Europeans. Dunno if that explains it though.

We breed 'em big here in the midwest. All the better to milk cows and all. ;)

I agree, btw. It seems like people are just shorter in urban, coastal areas. I'm 5'8" and it's rare to find a man shorter than me - most are around 6', although it may just be my community.
