Shorted out my machine--help!

MB: ABIT NF7-S
CPU: Athlon XP 2400+

I fixed a few fans in my motherboard, then booted the machine up. It was working on something, so I ducked my head into the case to make sure the fans were working. While moving my hand to feel for moving air, I believe I touched the metal connector of a case fan wire (one of those where it has the black and red and it has an adaptor to the 3 wires). The machine shorted out and turned off.

I unplugged everything, gave it some time to heal and stop being mad at me, then attempted to turn it on again about an hour later. I got the normal flicker when I flipped the back switch to on, but when I tried to press the power button, everything flashed for a quarter second (similar to when it's first plugged in), and no boot. :( The red light on the MB and the ethernet port light was on, but it wouldn't do anything after that. Normally in the past when I've had that problem (with a different PSU--it would do it if I tried to restart right after shutting down), leaving it alone for a while would do the trick, but this time I've had no such luck after 2 hours.

Might my PSU be shot? The motherboard? When I muster up the courage later, I'll break out the old PSU to test (although I'm not 100% sure if that works, either). I'd normally be a bit more patient, but my 9800Pro comes tomorrow, and if the months of anticipation for a new card are delayed by me &*#@ing up a part 24 hours before, I won't be able to live with myself.

I appreciate the insight and any suggestions.

Ends up when I shorted the machine I created a short in one of the connectors/adapters. I took them apart and put them back together and (knock on wood) it works!

I feel so geeky for fixing it without any help... uh oh... ;)
