Hi,

Need some help diagnosing this one, please.

Situation:

  • friend installed HSF on a K6-2 500 mounted in an AOpen AX59Pro and screwed it up.
the clip was jammed between the CPU and HSF and stuck in the edge on the CPU casing
he powered it up without noticing
system posts, recognizes IDE devices then stalls at a flashing cursor
when I go into BIOS and look at time setting, the seconds value is counting up all by itself at a rate faster than 1 count per second

Has the CPU been fried as is the clock-generator on the mobo dead?

Thanks for any input!
