Shorted or grounded motherboard

I just completed a new build and was getting ready to button it up when I accidently shorted a pin on the back of the motherboard to the case. The off/on switch would not turn the unit off and neither would the reset. The monitor went blank. The fans connected to the motherboard including the CPU fan would still work. Question: What is the extent of damage from this type of accident? I hope it is limited to the motherboard. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Should be limited to the motherboard. I had one that was shorting out and it didn't manage anything.
