Shortage of Iphone 3G

I ordered an Iphone and they said that it can take a couple of weeks
This thing has been released now for months and there is still a frigging shortage 😕

How is the situation in the States?

My gf wanted to get one a few weeks ago, but she skipped on it (did not want ATT network). They had plenty in stock at the apple store. If there is a shortage, I'd blame Apple because why on earth do you need 12 Iphones in display in each store (half of which are broken because people treat them badly)?

I've had mine for a month and I can't live without it, it's crazy expensive though.

And I've also never heard of one breaking Gibson, a lot of my friends have one, no problems yet that I've heard of :S

I'm starting to suspect that we get shafted here in Belgium. Sim lock and operator lock in is forbidden by law so Apple can't get the same profits here like they have in other countries so my guess is that we are pretty much at the bottom when it comes to deliveries.

At least I get a legally unlocked iphone for my patience but it sucks.

The store in Natick, MA had 2 frozen ones, 1 with a cracked screen and 1 that did not turn on.

I bought mine a few weeks ago while they were still not in stock at that AT&T Store, but I only had to wait three days for it to come in (The estimate at that time was a 7 day wait). When I went back with my brother-in-law to get his a couple weeks later, they had plenty in stock. Apparently, the shipment that brought my iPhone was the first of many shipments that stocked this store.

Interestingly, when I got my iPhone, there were two working models on display. When we went back, the display was still there, but the working models were gone (though the docks and tethers were still there). When I went back recently, I saw the same thing.

I got mine 2 months ago; had to wait ~10 days to get it. None of the stores had 'em in stock then.
