Short-circuited motherboard - rest of components?

I accidentally short-circuited my motherboard when installing a component. Is it likely that I have fried other components as well?

Edit: Seems the HDDs are gone at least...

It wasn't running obviously I forgot I'd lost a screw onto the mobo, doh! I figure if the HDDs are gone, other components are most likely a lost cause. The PSU should be safe though?

You'd have to test each component one by one. So what was the rig that you fried?

Really, that's a shame Should I ditch it without trying it, in case it might fry new components?

What do you mean by what was my rig? It was my desktop workstation? The motherboard is an EVGA X58 if it makes any difference.

exactly. Next time a storm comes, you could have to say hello to your beautiful PC. Absolutely not worth the risk.


Maybe you could reuse it in a VERY low cost pc that should stay unplugged when off.

I agree it's not worth the risk, if it could be damaged from the mobo short-circuiting
