Shopvac for drywall??

mrzed

Senior member
Like the title says. Currently doing a kitchen reno. Would like to find a cheap-midpriced shopvac that can handle a moderate amount of drywall dust without choking or blowing out more than it keeps in.

Would be nice if it was durable, but if it's really cheap and can at least get me through this small job without drowning the house in dust, that would be enough.

Retailer links appreciated, but I live in Canada.

most shopvacs will take a secondary filter (cloth, foam, paper) that will get you right down to some very small particles. Do a bit of browsing at the store; will probably end up with a cloth filter that will stop anything that seeps through the initial bag.

screw the filter, screw the cloth bag

go buy any shop vac and use the bags speced for drywall dust....usually yellow

Thanks everyone.

I'll check out the Rigid ones and the "yellow bags" at Home Depot.

ATOT to the rescue. My cats thank you.

I have a shopvac and it's nice but I don't know that I'd use one for lots of drywall work. My friend burned his out while finishing his basement. Look at something with a longer warranty and definitely use drywall bags instead of the filters (I think my buddy was just relying on the HEPA filter).
