The company is going to give me $400.00 dollars towards the down payment and then pay me $200.00 /month to put their graphics on it. Now, I just need to find one or wait a mnth for the order to be filled.
Since I'm going to be driving this for work every day, should I load it with options or get the basic unit?
Options = Scion NAV system, Audio upgrade, Wheels, performance Intake and exhaust etc.

I'm thinking to just get a Garmin and the windows tinted and call it a day.
I'm not into the big wheel look, but I'm thinking the intake and performance exhaust might be cool to start with.

i didn't vote. i think giving prices would be a little easier for us to give feedback. how much will the navigation, audio, and performance upgrades each cost if you get it from toyota? i'm sure it'll come cheaper in the end if you get aftermarket parts but who knows.

is the xB your only option?

I would definitely get a GPS. I get lost almost every day driving my truck to work. The darn roads are always changing.

From what I read a couple of months back, most the GPS units that dealers put in are overpriced, under featured, and unintuitive compared to a good after market system. And it is an xB and not a Tacoma, so the dealer packages like alloy wheels etc, are mainly for "bling" factor, as opposed to an off road package on a Tacoma. If you want all the "bling" then get the package.

But really *THINK* if your company is paying you $200 a month for having their stuff on your car, and your credit is good enough, and you put like 2-3k down, if you can, then your company is practically making your car payment for you, if you get a pretty stock Scion, and Scions stock have pretty decent amenities.

Is there a limit of how long they are going to make payments? I would get a 7 year loan from a credit union, then your payment will be around $200 :)

Performance.... hahahahaha

Seriously, it is a 1.6ltr cereal box on wheels. If you want the bling factor go for the wheels otherwise leave the rest of it alone.

The 2008 xB has been redesigned and actually looks a lot nicer (IMO). It also has a 2.4L with 158hp now. The 108hp of previous years was horrific.

I hate what they've done with the '08 xB :(. They added 600+ pounds to it and it's no longer a small but spacious car. I wish they would have split the difference, and made it a tad bigger with the Corolla engine. I suppose it might have competed with the Matrix then, but we didn't need another Element IMHO.

Oh, and to answer the question, I'm not a big fan of factory GPS systems (with a few exceptions). They're extremely expensive upfront compared to aftermarket, and expensive to keep current (again, compared to aftermarket). Sure, the integration is nice, but it's also nice to have one that you can move between vehicles if you need. As for the audio system, I guess you'll have to listen to the dealer system and see for yourself (all options are dealer-installed, not factory-installed, except for transmission). As I recall, the OP is a sound guy, so he's probably picky with regard to sound quality.

Are you buying a new '07 xB or the older "boxy" xB?

the older xB (IMHO) was the UBLIEST car ever produced, even worse than the legendary Aztec!

The new xB is much nicer and less boxy than the original ... a refreshing redesign!

Unfortunately, the damn Toyota dealers WILL NOT negotiate the price of the vehicle ... as if people are lined up down the street to buy them. As much as I like the new xB (over the original) ... I'd pass.

Good luck ...

I feel sorry for you. The old one may have been slow but at least it had some style. The new one has nothing but fugly.

Whatever you end up doing to it, you'll always pay more for dealer options so ask yourself if you need to have the factory options or whether you can get the same thing elsewhere.
