I'm looking for a desktop replacement, I'm leaning towards a pc-torque 8890 series laptop.

SXGA or UXGA? I've never run anything over 1024x768 on my 19" desktop monitor, how will this affect general computing and games for me?

harddrive speed? base customize is 4200rpm 40gig, 7200 60gig is another 195$ can i do that option on my own?

anyone have a dvd/rw? tell me the in's and out's?
It'll come with the 9600 ATI PRO,
My ideal would to be to burn DVD's off my dish...
I see it had svideo input, but i'm not seeing audio in

basicly, i'm crammed into a 12x12 room with all my puter stuff, because my roomie, who was supposed to move out last october, is still here lol. Not complaining too much about that. Living is cheap, but i need to consolidate or get back my puter room!

who are the other companies to consider? for the upgradable GPU. I'm not in a big hurry, jussst neeed to figght that immmpulse.

I'm a Big C-S player, i like BF42, and would like to do some ms combat sim games

SUXGA vs UXGA depends on the monitor size and the quality of your eyesight. If the screen is 14.1" or smaller I would stay with SXGA. If the scren is larger 15.1" or above UXGA would be better, but only if you have good eyesight. Otherwise stay wth SXGA. As far as harddrive speed, you can always upgrade to the 7200 but it is costly. That drive right now will run you upwards of $200 closer to $300. A 5400 RPM would be a better suggestion if cost is a factor.

The obvious companies to consider are Dell, Toshiba, IBM. Maybe HP but not if portability is a factor. IBM's have great build quality but come at a premium price. Dells hit in the middle of both. Toshiba would be my third choice behind those two, they tend to be a little more costly then a Dell in a given performance point and really offer no incentive to pay more.
