Shopping around for a GTX 480.. I was sad to get this reply from BFGtech

Well this is a let down..
I'm building a new rig and wanted to inquire about a BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0

As such I can't find them anywhere online or retail.
I've owned 2 kick ass BFGtech cards in the past my old AGP is still kicking in my single core system after 6 years.

I was going to ask them how they are dealing with the heating issues and this is the reply they sent me back.

Yet it is listed right here on the company site http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgrgtx4801534e.aspx
I'm boggled are they paper releasing now?

BFG went under, gone, finished, kaput. Best find another manufacturer (all 480's are reference design anyway).

Ah snap!
Well maybe I'll just buy a BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 H2OC :/

Why are you even considering a card from a company thats going belly up. They will never be able to offer tech support or Warrenty service if they do not exsist. Just go with another top tier brand. Such as Asus or Gigabyte.

BFG isn't honoring their warranties much at the moment either. So if you buy one of their cards that's still in the channel don't expect anything from them.

You can also thank Nvidia for doing this to BFG.

Yea I am not sure your facination with BFG. One advantage of nV is that they have a couple great board partners.

evga is at least as good as bfg ever was, and probably even a bit better. plus you get 90 day step up, just in case nvidia comes out with something newer and better. their customer service is considered the gold standard among all board partners for nvidia and amd both. I haven't heard any bad news coming from them, and in fact they should end up taking over quite a bit of bfg's market share in the future. If, however, you are concerned about evga's future as a "smaller" company, you can always go with asus, gigabyte, or msi.

don't buy a gtx 295. please.

Evga is the best pc company to buy from right now. Their cs and support is second to none which is why all of my gpu's and mb's come from them.

Maybe XFX got a decent share of Evergreen to work with instead (especially those supply-limited Cypress R800 chips)?
