Imagine if 1 person in that colorado theater had a hidden firearm with decent aim? He could have probably moved close enough in range as mr crazy was firing on others and taken him out, or at least stun him enough to jump him.

They would have died. This isn't a movie, or Call of Duty. The shooter was wearing full body armor, and a helmet. In a dark theater. With smoke bombs going off. With people running and screaming.

Nice fantasy, though.

Reported. No need for name calling.

Also, most will not be collected, even under your scheme. Most aren't used in the execution of crimes, fortunately.

So, it takes insulting the NRA to get reported. I'm sorry, they're not morons. They know exactly what they're doing. They're fucking sociopaths who don't give two shits about anything but profit. Just like the Republican party that works for their lobbyists.

Right because if there was an ex navy seal in there he wouldn't have had a chance in the world right?

Not a fantasy. Not exactly going to happen either. But it was just an example of the freshest piece in the news. I could have delved deeper for one that made much more sense, but that means work. And I would think anyone could see what I was meaning by this example which was not meant to be taken seriously. Robbers at gas stations, fast food resturants etc. in which it turns violent. Can easily be curved if 1 person has a firearm on them. It is that simple.

Glad you only quoted and commented on the only part you had anything to say on though.

Maybe it's because i'm not batshit insane, but my base instinct wouldn't be to 'move close enough in range' towards a psychopath armed and armored to the teeth firing at everything like a madman, even if i had a pistol.

Yes, it would be insane. But people do insane things they logically wouldnt think to do in a million years when the adrenaline of fight vs flight enters their minds.

Still if all people are going to comment on is the suppossedly horrible example I brought to the table, and not the logic behind it, then there is nothing more to say here.

Because banning guns will only disuede honest people from obtaining them for protection or for collecting. It will not curve the ones who wish to use them for wicked uses. Because if just simply banning them would, then why do people still pay billions on the black market for illegal substances (that are also banned)?

This guy's step-father said he was crazy. His family is quoted as saying he was ill. This is a very sad day for law enforcement, whom lost another good person for a simple eviction notice. I'm not saying people who don't or can't pay should be let off the hook, but I think maybe the police should do a little more research before they send a single officer out to the house of a lunatic who uses pictures of guns for his Facebook pictures.

It's such a huge loss anytime we lose an officer in this country, but to lose one when just the simplest precautions could have saved him is much worse. I think we all need to make sure we thank our local law enforcement for being the buffer that protects us from these ill people who would just as likely shoot us as one of our officers.

So he should have had his guns taken away, no?

I support the NRA and other such organizations. I also think that some reasonable gun control should and can be achieved. What I don't like to see is knee-jerk reactions based on emotions that as others have said, affect those who follow the law but not those who disregard it.
