Not listening to it myself, but supposedly scanner radio had the feed and the suspect was taken into custody with explosives on him so now they are sweeping the school for safe evacuation paths. (someone posted that in the comments on that page, I'm just repeating it here).

Hopefully noone dies and the suspect is caught alive, then we can castrate him and outsource his prison sentence to North Korean prison camp

I second that, mods should keep their emotion in check and be fair and balanced.

national? the links in the OP are local TV. you're free to post your own thread instead of trashing up this one, though.

You're right, 72pt font on the front page of CNN is not national news at all. Sorry for the confusion.

Fourthed.

If commenting on gun laws is trolling, then so is commenting on what makes national vs. local news. And well, just about anything outside of politically clean condolences.

Discussion of gun control laws is really the only point of threads like these, IMO. It's what people want to talk about.

Looks to be a specific shooting where the shooter was only interested in certain targets and not a rampage shooting where the shooter is after anything that moves.

Looks like only the shooter is dead. Gonna be a lot of disappointed faces at the cable news cos when they realize there aren't any dead kids to exploit.

I'm glad the student didn't hurt as many people as previous incidents have caused. I couldn't imagine sending my kid to school (a supposedly safe place) for stuff like this to happen. Really brings mental health and our current mental health system into the limelight.

National media doesn't care about gang-related shootings at schools. Has to happen in a middle/upper class neighborhood.
Indeed. Have to keep the fear machine well-oiled.

Also, didn't Colorado recently pass some more restrictive gun laws? And aren't Denver's laws even more restrictive than at the state level? I'm not in tune with what the shooter used, so maybe those laws don't apply here.

Regardless, this is another case that proves gun restriction doesn't really do anything to prevent public shootings of people.
