My wife (then g/f) locked the keys in my old '91 Tempo several times. I got them out with a coathanger no problem each time.

Our new '08 Rabbit is one of those remote entry deals. It's kinda nice.

Same here. The car refuses to lock if it detects that the key is inside the vehicle.

Sucks if you're trying to lock yourself in for some reason.

I don't have the luxury of keyless entry, so this is a very real threat to me. :p

I can't say that I recall ever locking my keys in my car.

13 years and counting...

Do you have an AT&T cellphone with Roadside Assitance? If so they will come unlock your door for free.

don't feel bad, lots of people lock the keys in or lose them. my buddy is a locksmith and he gets 6-8 calls every day to unlock cars.

The tow truck guy tried to slimjim my buddy's early 90's bmw but couldn't so I say it probably depends on the car.

I'd say it depends more on the slim jimmer in your example. A early 90's beemer should be easily slim jimmed.

Never lock your car door. All its going to do is make for broken windows or yourself being locked out

I've locked my keys in my car several times. Luckily I have a Jeep wrangler with a soft top. I just have to unzip my plastic windows and crawl in embarrassed.

Will AT be "Steved?"

Well, the tire joint told me to call after 5. I did and they said they were busy with customers and probably couldn't help me until 6. I went over there anyway to wait it out, but eventually they referred me to their tow truck driving friend. I called him at 5:30 and he showed up at 6:30. Cost me $50 but apparently my auto insurance includes roadside assistance so I can get it reimbursed.

I'm only posting now since I went downtown to have dinner with relatives passing through. I learned that it's faster to drive to Toronto from Winnipeg through Chicago rather than through Canada the whole time - saves 4 hours despite the similar distance traveled. Guess we got better highways here.

Yeah, all I've ever had to do is fax the bill to my agent.

Practice your Karate, Stevie-san. Let out can of whoop-ass on driver's side window while screaming "WA-CHA!"
