Shogun 2 Multiplayer Campaign

I read that Shogun has a multiplayer campaign. Can anyone confirm that it does? also, has anyone actually played one? how long do they take? Are they everything you'd hope for as far as playing on the main campaign map against a live player?
 
I've played a co-op with my friend in new york. Slow going since its hard to find a few hours where we are both free (and him being in NY and me being in California).
