Anyone have any tricks for making shoes magically smell nice all the time? Or do you guys just wash yours once every couple months?

Just put them in the microwave for 30 seconds on full. Dries them right out.

Wash your feet every once in a while? Change your socks at least once per day? Odor-Eaters?

I generally take them off while I sleep. It give them time to dry out.

Maybe you have some super fungus growing between your toes causing them to put out some extra funk.

Alternate your shoes, I find that helps a lot.

Get some lysol spray and spray them out every couple weeks, none of my shoes smell any more once I started doing those things.

Don't wear them daily. Problem solved.

That is the real answer. You shouldn't wear the same shoes everyday. If your shoes stink it's time to get some new pairs and stop wearing them everyday. Scrubbing your feet really well and changing socks when you get home (and into a different pair of shoes) also helps tremendously.

Once the stink is in your shoes you're really not going to get it out.

As someone mentioned, stuffing with newspaper.
I also find that making sure they get dried out after getting wet (or being filled with sweat after working out) helps a lot too.

Put some baking soda in, stuff them into a plastic bag (found a shopping bag works okay), then stick in the freezer for 2-3 days
After those 2-3 days stick em into the wash - let dry - shoes like new

Try showering. My shoes don't smell unless they get wet in the rain. And when that happens I throw them in the washing machine.

Wait, first you tell me I have to take showers, now you want me to use deodorant?

This is all too much. I'm going barefoot.

more than one pair so they air out/dry.

deodorizing powder

and don't wear them inside the house like many white people do.

First thing, all leather shoes won't stink unless you have foot issues. Stay away from synthetics. To get rid of the stink you already have, pour baking soda in your shoes, and let them sit overnight. Don't skimp on the soda; Pour a bunch in there. Dump it out the next day, but don't try to get every last bit out. It'll be ok to leave a bit of powder in.

One suggestion is to not keep them bolted on your feet every waking hour. I put shoes on when I leave the house and I slip them off as soon as I'm at my desk and whenever I'm going to be driving for more than 20 minutes I kick them off (unless I have passengers, of course). In warm weather I wear sandals. If it's a day during which I know I'll be in a situation that requires me to look professional, I keep a pair of shoes handy but head out with sandals or whatnot.

Keep your feet free, man. We were not designed to have shoes on all the time.
