Have you guys notice this at all? I'm usually an 8W American size, and have usually purchased shoes from different designers with the same size. The other day, I went to Kenneth Cole and pick up a pair of shoes, to my surprise I was swimming in the size 8M they had.

Now, I bought another pair of shoes from them a few months earlier, and 8M was fitting perfectly. The shoes saleslady told me that they're started cutting these larger, it made me feel inadequate .

Anybody know why? Have you seen this happening with other designers? What gives? And no my feet haven't shrunk, older shoes still fit, tyvm.

A lot depends upon what shoe last the company that is currently making the shoes for Kenneth Cole is using. Different lasts from different manufacturers, despite being said to be the same size, in reality are far from that.

Nope.

Once every three years or so, I will walk into a shoe place, ask how many pairs of 15 wides they have, and buy the first pair I find.

They'll never fit perfectly, but beggars can't be choosers.

It's just a number. Shoes made by completely different companies in different factories utilizing different manufacturing techniques will not all fit the same.

Edit: Although that doesn't answer your question does it? The pair of 8Ms that fit you may have been made on the same last as the pair that didn't, but the manufacturer probably didn't allow for any special linings or thicker insoles in their sizing of the two. Or it could be that they used a different last in their newer items.
