Shockwave doesn't wanna install

I've gone through every area of Macromedia's site, and every install of SW 8.5 I find, it comes up as an X and doesn't do anything (even though it says in text that it's installing". Is there an .exe I can find this in instead of a plugin? I'm using IE5 and nothing's working. Any help?
