Shock and Awe 2007

I went to war on my fats. I booked a trip to Jamaica with 31 days before my departure date. I now have 8 days left.

Here is where I am now:
ShockandAwe.jpg

I have seen some pretty good results so far, so I wanted to post my strategy:

Step 1: Be committed
Step 2: Limit your calories ( I cut mine to a max of 1500-1700/day when I was getting 3000+). Calculators suggest I take 3100 for my bodyweight. I'm 6'1" and 195lbs right now.
Step 3: Add a bit more of workout. My modification was only two 15 min sessions of cardio a week, I really didn't bump up my workout routine much at all.
Step 4: Take a multivitamin.
Step 5: Take Hydroxycut (with the money you save on food, it pays for it). I'm not sure if I would have seen the same results without it, but without it, I couldn't call it Shock and Awe.
Step 6: Stay committed.

I am only 23 days into it and I have seen some pretty drastic results for just over 3 weeks. It really isn't that hard to do.

I can't say if Hydroxycut works or not, but I can def say that it didn't hurt. I don't know if I would have seen the gains I have without it or not. It takes about 3-5 days to adjust to, it makes you really wired and jittery for the first week (could have been from going from 0 to a nice chunk of caffeine). After that, you don't really notice it much anymore.

I'm on the same track, minus the hydroxycut. I started off low with the cardio, about 15 minutes a day. Now I've bumped it up to 40 to 60 minutes while doing weight training. I've gained 40 lbs since starting work 2 and a half years ago. :(

Hydroxycut is terrible, but Good progress!

If you want to get lose fat real REAL quick, get some DNP, but be very careful!

Your doing just fine without hydoxycut, since hydro refers to water it's most likley some
form of diuretic wich can upset electrolytes as it increases fluid discharge. Not real weight
loss anyway just water...

Best of luck. I'm going the same route, I just have to order my Scorch. I need all I can when I'm limited to exercise. (cardio is limited due to the winter)

awesome! In the past 6 months, i've lost 20 pounds. But the past 2 months, I've only lost ~5 pounds or so, but my bro assessed me (he's an absolute fitness freak and a 2nd year med student) and said that i gained muscle in the past 2 months. so i'm a bit more tone, and i can see it. But I still have a LONG way to go. Probably about 5 more months until I want to get to where I want to be (150 lbs, and looking fit, but not ripped, lol).

I was 190. I'm now fluctuating between 165 and 170, but every other week, a pound gets shaved off. I'm 5'8."

I'm running on most days, and doing light weight cardios for about 30-40min/day (a number of sets of 30 push ups, squats, jumping, curls). It does help a ton that all my coworkers are fitness people, and that my work is right next to the beach, so that makes things for me a lot easier; i get support from peers, family and friends.

It takes extreme dedication to do it alone, and I highly respect people who have the drive to do that such as yourself OP....
I don't think I can ever have that type of dedication, but the support given from the people around me helps a ton.

good luck!

OP, not knocking your dedication in any way, but that's funny!

BTW, I hit an all-time weight high the end of last summer 296 lbs., being 6'7" it was easy to hide and deny. :( Then I got some bad news in December about my cholesterol being elevated, I'm down to 275 today.

I've definitely got to increase my workout routine, which is pretty much just leg lifts and free weights in the morning.

Can someone post an ingredient breakdown of this stuff?

Don't bother. DNP is effectively nothing but poison.

Yet , you can run it completely fine. Think before you speak, moron. It's not bad if you know what you're doing.

Looking better, but youve cut your calories waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too low. You're going to put it all back on and more when you start eating normally again. You're killing your metabolism

I think that some fats are needed for a good metabolism. The problem is most are really high calorie fats. Recently I have started to sub coconut oil for a lot of my fat intake. Its a saturated fat but its low calorie and it is handled differently than any of todays processed fats. I think this has help me shed 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks eating normal meals more or less.

He's talking about crash dieting. Unless he plans on maintaining a 1500 calorie a day "diet" the rest of his life, he's going to put it back on. You need to find the minimum amount of calories you need to maintain bodyweight, then subtract about 500-700 off that

You can't lose weight without cutting calories or significantly increasing metabolism. Since cutting calories is comparatively easy, it's a good option for weight loss assuming it's adjusted properly as you progress. When you put your body into caloric defecit to lose weight it's critical to maintain the proper balance of Protein/Fat/Carbs and space your meals out (5 per day instead of 3) to maximize metabolic rate and avoid having your body burn protein or muscle mass instead of fat. I'm not keen on any of the stimulant + diuretic trend "fatburners" so I supplement with Fish-Oil (Omega 3, DHA/EPA, Vitamin E) and a 2 x day multivitamin as part of my fitness plan.

As for the "way too low" calories argument - cutting to 1500-1700 properly balanced calories while losing weight is fine - remember he's TRYING to eat less than he burns in a day so his body starts metabolizing it's fat stores to make up the difference. Once he's achieved his goal "look" or fat% he should increase his calorie intake to a point of equilibrium based on his long term workout, activity patterns and natural metabolism.

Anyway, grats to the OP - looks like he set a goal and was able to make it via hard work and discipline. The key will be maintaining the lifestyle changes (diet & exercise) once the goal is reached if this is more than just a crash vacation diet. Nothing like changing your diet up for 30 days then flying off to a foreign country and soaking up beer + rich food for a week to set back all of your hard work. :)
