Yes I did try to search for this =)
I have a question about sending somthing to Canada...I know that if I mark it under $20 they dont have to pay customs, but what if its worth like $500 and I mark it $20...is that bad? It is a used paintball gun so I was going ot mark it as a used toy and send it as a gift...
I guess I was just wondering what the laws were on marking approx. worth on packages.
Thanks

You can't declare an items value as <$20.00 and then insure it for $500.00!

Gamble if you wish, but if it breaks in the mail, you're screwed. 🙁

the only thing that the claim for is there for is customs / revenue canada, to tax 'em.

If you don't feel guilty about cheating the govn't, no problem. legality? - not sure..

yes it is bad. be sure to attach a note saying it's a gift, but by declaring a value of $20 when clearly it is not, the item may risk seizure.

Caramel just because you've sold your soul and work for the feds don't lie.
The package may be examined, NOT will be examined.
One of the biggest problems with Canada is we have way too many
government employees. :disgust:

Edit: does it look brand new?
If you say it's a gift on your end the worse scenario is the recipient ends up
unjustly having to pay their pound of flesh to the govt re GST&PST
They can't seize it.

TheEvil1- It is an Impulse with a 68/4500 Maxflo tank

Hmm...if I mark it as a gift for lets say $500, will it get taxed for sure?
I dont know if I should mark it for $20 cause if they did search it, it's obviously worth more than that.
Also- when I describe whats in it, can I just say 'used toy' or should I say its a paintball marker and empty air tank..,
