hi i am thinking of shipping something to a friend in hawaii and wanted to know if postage rates (USPS, UPS, Fedex) are more expensive since there is no ground service to get there. also, which carrier would be cheapest to send something that should weigh about a pound and is the size of a shoe box (i checked the usps calculator but someone told me that the rates to hawaii/alaska are off).

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

USPS Priority is usually the better deal than UPS. Fedex will only do overnight.

depending on weight and size.

I can ship basic things to Japan in 3-5 days for under $30...if a large envelope about $9.

It should be more expensive. How much more? I don't know.

The USPS, UPS, and Fedex websites should have estimates.

Why post a thread when you can do a rate estimate at UPS/USPS/Fedex/DHL

Priority mail isn't much more expensive than to anywhere else, and if you put it in a flat rate box it will cost you...ta da...the same flat rate as to anywhere else ;)

you can ground with FedEX or UPS to Hawaii if they are business addresses. There are a couple more exeptions that are hard to calculate online.

I shipped to alaska and hawaii by usps, the rate seemed to be the same just as I would ship from east coast to west coast.
