Shipping Issues ... Tell Your Tales Of Woe

Most stuff arrives OK, either sent or received and from any shipper/retailer or carrier.

But every so often, one goes wonky.

Had one the other day that was delayed due to a railroad incident. Today I see one that was mis-directed to another hub 100 miles from here and may be here tomorrow, the next day, or .....

Those are both UPS from Jeff's bizzarathing.

Lots of damaged things in shipping recently. But those aren't interesting stories.

My latest shipping woe was buying a holiday present for my wife. She really likes Belvoir ginger beer since it is the spiciest ginger beer we have ever tried (and we've tried dozens of brands). However, Belvoir isn't really sold in the states. It is on Amazon, but at $17.99 for a single non-alcoholic bottle, that is a bit too steep. https://www.amazon.com/Belvoir-Organic-Ginger-Presse-Ounce/dp/B00HLT9EKK

I eventually found a store that imports it and sells at $3.99/bottle. I bought ~$50 worth, which is all that was in stock. It was going to be shipped on the coldest day of the year, so I purchased extra shipping insurance thinking it might freeze and burst in transit. I was going to come home early the day it was to be shipped so it wouldn't sit on the porch. But I never got notification that it would ship that day, so I didn't leave early. I was worried that I would come home to a frozen mess, but there was nothing on the porch. I called UPS and they had no record of delivering it, although they had records of receiving it. I was told to wait to see if they could find it and deliver later.

I waited a week or so. No deal, they had lost it entirely. I was swamped with other things in life so I waited another week (2 total) to contact the shipping insurance that I paid extra for. They had me file a claim with UPS. That claim took a couple weeks. But by then the shipping insurance company said it was too late and they wouldn't insure it even though I had filed a claim in time and had paid for this insurance. So, there was a bunch of hassle there. I finally got UPS to reimburse me. But I had purchased the last remaining bottles available anywhere in the US for any reasonable price (as far as I know). It is still out of stock 8 months later. https://www.onlinestores.com/belvoir-ginger-beer-presse.html I had really intended that to be the surprise present for my wife, so I had to scramble and got something worse.

Week or two ago UPS damaged my package so severely they never delivered it - just sent it back to Amazon. Amazon promised a refund, and advised me to reorder. But . . . the price had doubled since I ordered - sooo . . . there was no way I was going to reorder. 🙄 I wanted the item at the original price.
A rep was dismissive, but I insisted, so I was escalated, and ultimately shipped a replacement at no further cost.

Back in March, UPS lost one of my incoming drive axles somewhere and delivered to me half the set, strapped together with one box empty. Seller was kind enough to reship the one axle immediately - this time via FedEx. Seller was "AutoBuffy"

Also, back in May, UPS never delivered one of the items in my order. Driver said he couldn't find it, and would look for it. Tracking said "business was closed" (what "business"?). It was held for pickup somewhere - and I never picked it up. Soo, don't know where it is now. A minor loss.

We are redoing our bathrooms. Ordered a bathtub through Lowe's. Tube was shipped then I got a cancellation email. Found out the shipping company damaged the tub, they told Lowe's and Lowe's cancelled the order. Got a refund minus the $59 shipping charge.
I had to call up Lowe's and said the shipping company damaged the tub and I did not want to pay them for that. 🙄
