Figured maybe some people on here would have experience with this. Wanting to buy a product from Amazon Japan and have it sent to the US but it won't let me check out, is saying the item can't be shipped to my address. Is there some trick to this or can some items on the site just not be shipped internationally?

Was looking at this keyboard. Anyone have any idea where I can find a place that can ship this to the US? Preferably for not too much, I won't even bother if I can't get it cheaper than 6000 yen or so.

The types of items that can be internationally shipped are pretty limited, its essentially just books. I'm guessing it has something to do with import laws. You'll need to find either a friend in Japan to facilitate or use a 3rd party importer.

Yeah after Googling it a bit, sounds like that's the case. Any recommendations for a third party that can handle imports? I'm sure they cost an arm and a leg unfortunately.

I used him a couple of years ago to get a couple of special order items. You pay him a fee, but it all depended on how hard it was to get and cost, etc. I don't remember exactly how much extra he charged, but it was very reasonable IMO. He also claimed it as a gift on the customs form.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll look into these services. The fees and stuff they add on really do seem to add up, though. If anyone on here happens to live in Japan and would maybe be willing to purchase this and ship it to the US for a fellow AnandTech member, please send me a PM. Would probably be a lot cheaper if I could just find an individual to do this instead of having to go through a business.

I had the original Kill Bill japanese box set (the one with the beabrick figure and the okinawa shirt like in the movie) shipped from amazon japan years ago here to California. So it was doable, but not sure if they changed it or not.

it has to do with the vendor who amazon paired up with.

They probably dont accept international orders.

The best thing to do is look for the vendor who they paired up with and find a number.

And then call them.

3755 Japanese yen = 43.4555 US dollars

Add international shipping, and you could get one hell of a razor/logitech keyboard even.

I was too lazy to do a conversion, but for that price you can almost buy a Logitech Illuminated keyboard, which without doing any research looks to be pretty much the same keyboard functionally.

what's so special about that keyboard?
Nothing special, just like the way it looks and figured I'd buy it if I could find it for 5000 yen or so. Much more than that and I probably wouldn't bother, though.

I'll check out that Logitech. I have a wireless Logitech KB/mouse combo now and haven't been too impressed with it, though. Then again I don't think it was that expensive, maybe $40-50. Their more expensive products are better I'm sure.

Upon comparison it's bigger (due to having a palm rest and arrow keys with home/end block) but the styling seems to be fairly similar. It can be had for $40 or $45 fairly often if you watch the slickdeals.
