I may be involved in an event wherein I will be setting up some equipment for it. I personally do not own equipment, but usually rent it. It just happens that none of the local companies will have it available, but a company located in another part of the state will.

Equipment will come in a large crate (ATA-300 case), roughly 8'x3'x4' in dimensions. It will weigh around 150 kgs.

How would I get it shipped to me or ship it back? Will FedEx freight do a delivery to the event or to my residence and do a pickup? If I bring this thing to a regular FedEx location, would I be able to drop it off there?

Thanks.

Most LTL companies will do event deliveries and pickups. Residences too. Fees also.

Fedex isn't like it once was being one company. Some parts of Fedex are contracted out even though they keep the Fedex name so deliveries on items outside their mainstream business can vary depending on the regions it has to cross.

Something 8x4x3 the cheapest way you can get it to your site and back is going to be to rent a uhaul and do it yourself. Otherwise you will have to pay for what a uhaul cost + employee hours + delivery and pickup cost. That size item and how you need it really isn't going to get you any price breaks from carriers. You might even consider hiring someone to do it for you. Depending on the distance even paying a college student something like $100 each way + rental cost, would still be cheaper than paying a carrier.

Just running the numbers , Truck rental + 100 miles fees = about $90 each way, Freight is around $300 each way .
