Shipping/Flying my computer

I Am flying to college and needed to take my computer(w/o monitor). Should I:

A. Try to bring it on as a carry on? (enlight 7237 case-hope it fits) Will they let me bring it on (security)

B. Have it shipped? Whats a good shipping method. Thanks!

i would ship
for 2 reasons
1 - you wont get denied for security/over carryon limit
2 - most likely wont get damaged (unless you go usps, make sure you go ups or fedex)

Forget the flight. I would not want to take a computer with me as either carry-on or checked-in luggage. The chance of them allowing you to bring a PC into the cabin is about 0.0001%. Ship it instead: FedEx Ground is a good choice if you have a nearby outlet; otherwise you can always do UPS.

I would ship it in a strong box with at least enough room for 3-4 inches of foam peanuts around it.(for ex.) Also make sure all cards/CPU/H.S. are secured tightly)
Pick a courier company (I'm in Canada but someone here can recommend UPS/FedEx ect.) and make sure you get insurance and tracking.
Take out the ram and your main H.D. and pack them securely in your suitcase (antistatic bags/original box?) and in advance let airport security know about them.

The idea is that if god forbid your package disappears the H.D. which for some, has everything on it that's important, will still be safe with you. With ram so cheap. that importance decreases (unless you have a gig of DDR ect.) but it's small and easily put in your suitcase.
Actually if I had a GF3 I may carry that as well!

I just shipped one to the UK via Usps and it cost about 135$ US insured for one week delivery. Its too big for carry on. You could take it apart and place the case in the original box and pack the drives and cards in another suitcase and take it home that way. You will have to pay alittle more money since your over the allowed baggage limit.

Go FedEx Ground (for get UPS ground, don't even ask about the last book they shipped me) and take out your hard drives, not because they might get stolen, but out of all the components, that are the ones most succeptible to shock.
