Shipping costs on a computer?

What's the average price to ship a computer in about a week from the east coast to California? I'm only talking about the tower, not the monitor. As for weight, assume it's fully loaded with stuff.

I always thought it was about $10, but just making sure

Nope. I'd say at least 25 with snail ground mail.

wow, $25? That's pretty crazy. Some guy sent me a great computer and shipping was included. It must have been stolen or something at that price, woo!

good god, is it aluminum atleast? to cut down on weight? steel tower = uber heavy... 25 minimum..and as said...probably way too low. after padding it sufficiently it will be bulky.

I sent a mid-tower computer that I built to my bro. TX to CA via USPS with insurance. I forget the exact amount but it was somewhere in the $35-45 range.

hmm...I sent a 19" monitor from Cleveland to Washington state and it was like $30. I really don't think it would be more than $20, shipping FedEx ground or UPS ground.

Go to ups.com and figure it out. Just need the weight and box size.

dude...don't use USPS for something that heavy...anything over a couple of pounds should go UPS or FedEx ground.

dang, this throws my budget on its side with a bullet in through the face...

If I don't have it insured, isn't there already some sort of minimum insurance on the package?

Fedex ground and UPS ground packages are automatically insured up to $100 included in its basic shipping price.

no, i don't thnk there is a minimum insurance.

why are you doing this? shipping kills most tight budgets.

I'm buying a computer off someone and they said $xxx.xx + shipping and I'm trying to figure out what it'll be total. It's not a huge deal but apparently I've been under the wrong assumption for shipping costs.
