Okay folks, time for anothe rant...

**PART 1**

I recently sold a StarBand system. The "high-speed, always-on, two-way satellite system," which depends on your definition of always on as well as high speed.

Needless to say, everything was packaged up and taken to UPS, who stated they would not ship the item because the dish unit (plastic only) had to be in a box even though their shipper manuals say otherwise.

I was already fed up with UPS so I decided that FedEx would be the way to go... My wife should have shot me then and ended the whole suggestion.

Signed up at FedEx and opened a shipper account after only 4 tries. Weighed and measured the items, and even packaged the dish unit in a box for safety. Those dish units are strong enough to take a drop off of a two story building with no breaks, but with a pick-up scheduled I did not want any flack from the driver. The driver shows up on the 9th.. whoops they sent the wrong driver, they sent express even though ground was requested. So the pick-up was rescheduled. The next day ground shows up and picks up the items.

On the 11th, the first item arrived at the destination, the dish unit with a nice dime sized hole punched through it. How FedEx managed to punch a hole through the dish is beyond me, but needless to say it made the buyer quite upset. The second box somehow ended up in PA. So FedEx was called. Remember now, both items were linked packages going to the same address.

Checked today, and the second package could not be delivered because the address was incorrect. FedEx was asked if the recipients had perhaps moved their entire house.

**PART 2**

I ordered a quantity of computer peripherals from a distributor out west for local resale. He packaged the items securely and sent the package FedEx ground. The items arrived very quickly, however the entire bottom row of parts was destroyed (30% breakage). Looks like someone dropped the entire box off the back of a truck. FedEx tells me not to worry the items are insured and the claim process only takes 3-6 months.

**CLIFF NOTES**

Part 1: UPS would not accept the item, FedEx broke the item...

Part 2: FedEx broke it again, on a much larger and expensive scale...

*** this concludes the rant, you may now resume your normally scheduled posting ***
