Guys how do you go about obtaining shipping boxes for the stuff you ship. I have a powered sub i need to sell but the shipping box was damaged in my basement from a recent power outage we had (water damage). The box is intact but way to weak to be able to ship a sub. This sub is not sold anymore but still a very good sub so it would be impossible to obtain an original box from the company. Do you have any good recommendation other than trying to find an box in the exact dimension at a grocery store (which would take forever).

thanks,
Ncage

i have lowes near by i'll try but this is a pretty box. Its for a 12-in powered sub so its pretty big. I have the original syrophome padded corners. I thought maybe calling mailbox ect and see if they would sell me a box. What do you think?

Get larger box but put your existing box in it. It may be too worn, but it still has all the right padding for that sub, then just add padding between it and the larger box.

Your local storage facilities will probably sell boxes too. S, M and L, one will be close I'm sure. And yeah, just put it in the original box and then pad that so it won't move inside the new box.

That is why I save boxes. I have a ton of them compressed under my bed. Saves me a fortune when shipping stuff.

no need to fuck around a grocery store hunting boxes. go to a shipping store and get a box with enough volume to allow for about 4-6" around the item.

Even if you found a grocery store box, chances are they are single walls and too fragile to ship. Regardless most carriers will not honor claims from these types of boxes as they have no certification.

One of the biggest problems I have on ebay (rare still) is those winning the bid and then asking if I can reduce shipping costs by just throwing it in a box 'I already have' or if I can run down to the grocery store to get one.

No stores here keep boxes. If you are not on the floor on stock day, they are compacted instantly.

I mean NEVER go to the post office and ask them for 10 or so of their hard plastic Carry bins, claiming you have a very large mailing to go out. And that they will give you for FREE. And if you need more, to go to another post office and ask for 10 more, and so on and so on. This bins are property of the Post Office and any non-postal usage could result in higher postage rates. Hmmmmm.................

The UPS store near me has a ton of shipping boxes in various sizes. They'll also have all the bubble wrap and packing peanuts you'll need. Prepare to spend $10+ just on the materials.
