Shipping a vehicle across the country

You get what you pay for. If you want a covered truck expect to pay $$$, these are all reputable. Uncovered, you have to spend some money to get a good company. If you find a company that has a low estimate avoid at all costs. I used a great company for uncovered and if you PM i can send you the info. My car went on the truck and never came off until it got to the destination. This is what you want.

I would appreciate it.

Most of the quotes I have gotten back are $800-900. The one company that I know is legit (my company used it a few years back) is $1200 and I would have to pick it up 200 miles away.

I do not really have any need for covered, the vehicle is not that nice.

Fly me to AZ and get me back to Chicago and I'll drive the thing for you.

I already looked into just driving it. It would be $450 for me to fly out there, then at least $300 in gas, another $100-150 for hotel rooms, and there is the issue of the wear and tear of 2000 miles.

I just had my car shipped from FL to IL. Cost me $525 for an uncovered trailer. I used the a broker called M3 carriers and was pretty satisfied with them, the actual carrier didn't speak good english, which was kinda frustrating, but it worked out good in the end. They picked up the car on a Mon and delivered it on Tue night, which was alot faster than expected. Good luck, feel free to ask for more details, I'm sure I have their info here somewhere.

Thanks, I just sent off a quote request to them.

Heh, that is the one company we had used before that was $1200, and that is not even door to door.

I clicked the very first link (not the top 3 advertisements) and it brought up what looked like a pretty decent company. You'll never know until you call them and ask about prices and times though, and check with the BBB about their past dealings.

Unfortunately it is not that easy. First, almost every one of those companies is a reseller of sorts, they do not do the work themselves. Because of that, you have no idea what the quality will be. Second, because they are resellers, they come and go. While a BBB profile might show no complaints, the company could be one of 200 set up by the same person who just closes one when it gets complaints.

I used B&M transport. The guy who drove the truck is Bennett (504 382 7357). I was VERY satisfied and paid $600 to go from austin to philly. He picked up a couple blocks from my house and dropped off ~0.5 mile away.

Hmm, yea odd. THis was a little more than 2 years ago. That number is the guys cell. Im sure B&M was just a brokerage company. He emphasized that if i need service again to call him directly. But that kinda sounds a bit sketchy i suppose, but he is a nice guy and refused my tip.

I suppose you're right about that. Do you have a regular mechanic that you use? Ask them if they know anybody who does this sort of thing, or could put you into contact with a company. A guy I knew who was a mechanic and did AAA work used to drive out of state to pickup cars at auctions and whatnot, and resell them in-state. He'd also buy online and have vehicles shipped to him, so I'm sure he knew companies that did that sort of thing. Best bet is to always ask someone that works in that industry.
