Shipping a PC, or maybe just a mobo/CPU/RAM, with an attached tower heatsink?

Just wondering. Would it be feasable to ship a mobo/CPU/RAM combo, with everything pre-installed, including a tower heatsink (HyperTX2, with push-pins), or is that just asking for trouble?

IMHO, asking for trouble. There have been a few threads around here citing where the heatsink got jarred loose and destroyed everything within the case. Your only option would be to pack it on the inside as well sufficiently to keep the heatsink immobilized during shipping, but at that rate, it's easier to remove it and pack it up itself to save headaches.

It is best to remove the heatsink just in case the push pins are not sturdy enough to hold it in place. Remove any dual slot GPUs too if you have any and pack them separately. CPU and RAMs are too light and I doubt they would cause any problems.

If I absolutly had to do this I would craft some expanded foam blocks to fit perfectly inside the case and support the HSF but unless is really had to do it I wouldn't recommend it
