hey when you guys ship a hard drive, do you ship it in just the original box that it came in? (I Know this box has those hard drive hard plastic holder things.. it's a maxtor drive) or do you at least put it inside another box with peanuts? in case it matters, i'm using USPS..

thanks

I would unless you want someone to steal it.

Put it in the original box so it is protected by the HD manufacturer's standards (which is the good for most people)

Then cut up a paper grocery bag like you do when you cover school books and use it like wrapping paper. Then grab a marker and write the address right on there. Bam. You're done. No one can tell it's a HD, but it has excellent protection.

Your post is intriguing. Do you have any books available for further reading?

I take the platters apart. You know for space saving reasons and ship them seperately just in case one of them gets lost the other person can still use the other platters.

Serioulsly tho just use the materials that your harddrive was shipped in it will work.
