Shipping a computer case

Does anyone know what is the cheapest way to ship a computer case? I got a quote from UPS for shipping a case that's weights about 70lbs, 29X16X30 inches will cost me about $88.00 dollars.

OUCH! That's just for shipping. 🙁

Any suggestion or ideas?

USPS might be cheaper, try parcel post or something... btw, 70 POUNDS!!! what do you have in there? lead bricks??? 😀

From the dimensions you gave, it look like some sort of server case and not a normal tower/desktop for normal use. You'll get hit with dimensional weight charges even if it didn't weigh that much so I think you'll just have to pay up for the high shipping cost.

You should see the size of the box from www.Vanns.com that my 40" TV came in. They do not even charge for the shipping and their TV's sell for a very low price. Somehow these businesses that ship regularly get prices the genaral public do not get. I had to send back a hard drive and it cost me like $14.00? Shipping via ground.

When I bought my laptop shipping was 75 bucks or so. 88.00 doesn't seem too bad, if the case is worth any significant amount of $$$ you should probably get it insured too.

I'm guess the size of the box is also adding to the price, being that it's a 70 lbs case. The quote from UPS seems about right for that.
