when im watching movies / streaming in full screen, i notice my fps drops to 15 instead of it being 24. is 6450 not able to handle higher resolution monitors? my main video card is a 7870 and it runs my other 27" monitor fine. im using the 6450 as a second video card

other specs are i7-2600k
16gb ram
256gb ssd

that doesnt sound right....

steaming movies in full screen shouldnt cripple a 6450 on that resolution even with windows media player classic rendering dx9.

I assume ur doing a hybrid xfire.. or u just using the second card as an expansion port?
If your doing it as a second expansion port, it could be driver issues.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in flash videos

What player do you use for viewing videos?

Do you have 2 pcs...

One with a 7870 that runs fine.
One with a 6450 that doesnt run 2560x1440 so well?

Yes could be the 6450 ^^

OR

Do you have 1 pc, with 2 GPUs inside it, 1x 7870 + 1x 6450?

I have no experience with that video card, but I also have the Achieva Shimian 27" 2560 x1440 monitor in rig 1 below. Obviously with 2 GTX670s in SLI I'm not having problems. However a single 6450 will be stretched running resolutions at 2560 x1440. Would you explain your setup.

sorry if theres any confusion. here is my setup

i7-2600k
16gb ram
256gb ssd drive
ati radeon 7870 tahiti
ati radeon 6450

all of this are on one computer. since the shimian only has one DVI-D port, i bought a 6450 to power my second shimian monitor on the same computer.

my mobo is a p8z68-v pro
i have two pcie at 16x(dual 8x) slots
and one pcie at 4x slot

i have the first video card at 16x and the second one at 4x.

if im watching a movie on vlc player on my main monitor, it seems to slow down to 20fps if im browsing with my second monitor(running 6450). i cant seem to be able to watch a movie at full screen on 6450, as it drops the fps to 15 and it starts to stutter.

Maybe try media player classic home cinema.
Otherwise maybe a display port to DVI-D adaptor?
