"I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished. If I was going to do it twice, my career was over. So this was fight-or-flight for me. You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg]. But the actor's job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn't do it. So that's my fault. Simple. I think the audience is pretty intelligent. I think they know when you've made...And I think if you don't acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you're promoting a movie.

We [Harrison Ford and LaBeouf] had major discussions. He wasn't happy with it either. Look, the movie could have been updated. There was a reason it wasn't universally accepted. We need to be able to satiate the appetite. I think we just misinterpreted what we were trying to satiate. I'll probably get a call. But he needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven. I have a relationship with Steven that supersedes our business work. And believe me, I talk to him often enough to know that I'm not out of line. And I would never disrespect the man. I think he's a genius, and he's given me my whole life. He's done so much great work that there's no need for him to feel vulnerable about one film. But when you drop the ball, you drop the ball."

The last Indiana Jones movie was horrible. Aliens? Really????

When they held that crystal skull up and said something along the lines of this isn;t from this planet, I wanted to get up and walk out.

I agree with Shia.

As much as i like Shia and respect him for saying this... it really needs to come out of either Spielbergs mouth or Fords mouth.

Shia can burn his bridge with Spielberg.. he still has Bay to fall back to..

but Ford & Spielberg go hand in hand. For this mea culpa to mean anything, it has to come from the Star or Director.

This would be like.. Ramon Rodriguez apologizing for what they did to Jetfire in RotF

When Jones paused in the middle of saying something like "nice goin' kid, but I think you just brought a knife [pause] to a gun-fight." while the other guys were reaching into their jackets, I was praying hard for a "I'm the juggernaut, bitch!" moment that would have them remove walkie-talkies like the earlier South Park episode. WHY THE HECK NOT?! :(

Actually, he also trashed Transformers 2 recently. I will say, its cool he's willing to say this stuff, and he's not being an asshole as he's trying to take the blame himself, but fact is, its not really his fault that these movies have sucked.

Just read the full quote. Wow, so he is saying Spielberg definitely takes blame, kudos to him and what and how he said it.

I still don't think he makes a good action star, and he was not well cast for Indiana Jones.

For me the Indiana Jones series ended with The Last Crusade. I didn't even consider watching the new one. That is why I am better than all of you. That and the fact that I am the pinnacle of human evolution. Everyone knows this.

It's not because they're aliens, it's because they are in an Indiana Jones movie. They aren't even sci-fi aliens. They're mystical alternate dimention aliens from a past full of legend. *shudder* Yeah, they tried that.

I forgot they even made a 4th Indy movie until I was searching for my Goonies DVD over the weekend and saw it on the shelf. Unfortunately I couldn't find the Goonies. Damnit.

Unless he came up with the idea for the aliens and the nuke fridge, it ain't is fault.

I can't really harbor much resentment for this Shia character. He hasn't really ruined anything I've seen. He just stars in shitty movies. In fact, it helps me out, because if he stars in a movie, I can be pretty sure it sucks and avoid it.

I think the problem really was Ford is way past his prime for doing action movies and has basically done suspense/dramatic movies for what - the past 15 years or so? Honestly I think he forgot how or just didn't have it left in him.

He is a talentless actor anyway and I despise any film he stars in. They are all terrible.

The Last Crusade was great.

But for the last movie, I also felt like walking out when the aliens were introduced. The swinging on the vines was also cheesy. The CGI in general was 1990 quality at best.

Shea LeDouche didn't do a very good job in that movie, but he's not responsible for just how terrible the movie was.
