Doctor shopping for pain is the biggest problem they have to deal with now? Really?

Per HIPAA my parents can't find out what drugs I'm taking, but it's ok for cops that have that info?

What's ironic is that half the time you need to find a quack doctor before you can get proper treatment. My friend had a broken wrist and his doctor wouldn't give him a prescription for hardcore pain killers. He had to go doctor shopping to get it.

that is one of the big problems. doctors are afraid to give out pain meds for fear of getting nailed.

Buddy had a slipped disc. Doc gave him 4 pills and made him an appointment with the specialist that was 1 month out.:(

I applaud their attempts to control "hillbilly heroin," but this ain't-a-gonna work...Too many opportunities for abuse, too many other ways to obtain the drug.

Hell, IIRC, our own Zane Johnson posted a thread a couple of years back about making the rounds at some of these "pain clinics" to stock up on his "candy."

I'm all for nailing the abusers. but not at the expense of people that really need the meds

I saw a show called "The Oxycontin Express" a while back that talked about pain clinics in Florida. It said the top 50 prescribers of oxycodone in the country are all in FL. I guess FL is one of the few (only?) states that the doctor can have a pharmacy in his/her office that dispenses the medication they prescribe.
Back when it was MUCH easier to buy prescription drugs online, with numerous websites operating almost freely (before the big DEA crackdown in 2004/2005), pretty much all the drugs were shipped from pharmacies in FL. Ah yes, those were the days...

He would blame it on liberal doctors who enabled him by giving him drugs, and his idiot followers would believe it.

Not to mention foisting most of the blame on his housekeeper...dammed illegal immigrants!

If this was a free country we could just buy the drugs we want without big brother's permission. If they do circumvent HIPPA, and manage to suppress secondary trade of prescription drugs, the gap in the marketplace will be filled with heroin. Ultimately putting more money into the unsavory hands of international crime organizations like al-queda and Mexican drug gangs, thusly making North Carolina less safe. Good job coppers!

Thanks for the heads up on this, I'm going to write to my legislators today.

Fuck the pigs, and fuck the drug war, it's none of their business what an adult chooses to do with their body.

"Fuck the pigs" is about all the clues we need as to whether you're an adult or a juvenile - and your physical age really has nothing to do with it.

I would love that. Medication that I will need to take for the rest of my life is only given out in 3 month dose, so I need to book appointments and sit in line for 30 hours just to get a prescription filled. Why do doctors even book appointments? They put you in in the examination room where you fuck around with the blood pressure thing until the doctor rolls out of bed and goes to work.

Exactly. I'd rather have a hundred Zane Johnsons sitting on their couch drooling than one person not have the pain medication they require to live a normal life.

fuck 'em before they fuck you. Because given the chance...they won't think twice.

Back on topic, this sheriff's association is testing limits. If they've never heard of HIPAA, they soon will.
