If you own a Dreamcast, get the original Shenmue and check it out. Sweet game and kinda long! It is kinda like an RPG and a fighter, all in one. You basically are trying to find out who it was who killed your father and seek your revenge. It is based in Japan and the graphics are really good.

Shenmue 2 came out on DC in Europe, but did not make US release because of Sega saying they were leaving the console. So Shenmue 2 can be found for your XBOX. I still need to play that one.

Word has it that this series could go up to Final Fantasy like chapter numbers... but I'm not sure if they are even making Shenmue 3 ... anyone know?

if you like that game, check out the onimusha series for PS2, and ninja gaiden for xbox. ninja gaiden is hard as fvcu though, consider yourself warned.

I was blown away by the graphics in Shenmue when I first got it, but I found the game itself hard to get into and lost interest in it a month after the eye candy got old.

A great game. I picked up the Euro version of Shenmue 2 for DC but I haven't played it yet....I've been sitting on it for 2 years now, but I've been trying to get my wife through the first Shenmue so we can play 2 together.

What actually happened with the US DC release of Shenmue 2 was that when Sega scrapped the Dreamcast, they promised to release the games that had already been promised, such as Shenmue 2 and Jet Set Radio Future, but when they jumped into bed with Microsoft to develop for XBox, Microsoft insisted that they cancel the planned DC releases and instead license them exclusively for XBox.

I could not get into this game but everyone I know loved it.

Shenmue 3 is going to be hitting XBox360 and PS3 pretty soon after release as well, if you are into that stuff :)

Yeah, there's nothing official yet, but it sounds like Shemue 3 is coming out for a next gen system (probably 360). The rumor also says that it'll include 1 and 2 for those that never played it..it'll be awesome to play them in order.

I've played through the first half or so of Shenmue 2 about 3 times, and always had to stop right there, so I've never finished it. First time was a corrupt memory card, second time I forget what happened...3rd time my xbox HD broke.

Yeah, except it would take you two months just to get to the 3rd game and that's if you have the strategy guides.

the conversations with the AI are kinda bugged.. i remember playin it when it came out and i would ask "Have you seen anyone with black suites and a black car," to which the lady replied "Have you seen my cat." ... but nevertheless it was a fun game. Graphics were amazing for that time, and the free roaming was quite amazing.
