Anyone tell me how this is possible?
In March I got 6 months coverage on a 1996 Nissan Maxima, worth $6k-ish, at the time due to being under my parents insurance before I technically didn't have insurance for a full 6 months (stupid insurance company told me that it didn't count as MY insurance, shelter wasnt the only one to say that either) so progressive quoted me $2400 (hah in one year I could pay off the car at that rate) and others were nowhere below $1800, this is for state minimum full coverage btw, so Shelter quotes me $1291 for DOUBLE the state minimum, sounds great right? Still a smidge high if it werent for my lack of insurance before. Just got my premium bill for the next six months....$1385.
I don't have ANYTHING on my record, not so much as a parking ticket! How the heck could it go up? If anything it should go down right?
Anyway I wanna know what you guys pay for insurance.
I'm 20, male (which screws you hard even though we are better drivers), and drive a 4-door V6 sedan.
Anyone out there in a similar boat? And what do you pay? And more importantly, who do you go through?
