Shelby GT350 -- Drool face

This car looks amazing. over 500 N/A powers. I can't wait to see what they do with the next GT500. I am willing to wager closer to 800hp than 700hp.

But this GT350 looks real aggressive IMO.

Out of curiosity, would a flat plane crank V8 respond well to boost?

flat plane crank engines tend to have a high specific output because they are revvy. high specific output translates when you add more air.

as long as the rest of the engine is built for it, it should do very well.

This is one of the best looking Mustangs in like 40 years, IMO. Sadly, that is mostly due to it looking more generic than previous models.

I like its fastback homage. Made me want one! I wouldnt boost it however. Would kill the exhaust note. Its gotta be sexy at 8k rpm.. HAS to be

The exterior looks fantastic and I am sure it will perform well.

Will they provide some sort of viser/cover so the driver doesn't have to look out what will undoubtedly be the same awful dash/interior as the basic Mustang? 😉

Not a big Mustang guy but... flat plane, 500+ HP, magnetic shocks, suspension design no longer from the 1800's... pretty sure there is no excuse not to like this car.

In my opinion, a 40-year-old Mustang was the ugliest thing to wear that name

The new one looks great though.

Oh, forgot '74 was the start of Gen 2. Thought it was '75 for some reason. I thought it was for 1974 when the awful law known as "make every car ugly" was passed and it was cars from '75 onward. =(

It's all good. I just used you to find an excuse to post the ugly thing, lol.

Without some pretty large changes I don't think the Mustang has a whole lot to offer in the Horse Power wars than the last GT500 already did. The problem has already become an issue of traction. More horsepower doesn't help. Even with slicks on the back as wide as the Shelby would allow, you were still breaking traction in almost all gears. They've also pretty much topped out in the top-end speed department too.

The next improvement needs to be a major lightening project. Otherwise you're not really going to improve the performance of the vehicle very much. Smaller engine with tweaks to make the same horsepower, aluminum body panels, and a general lightening of the whole vehicle. Cut 500 to 800 pounds off the vehicle. The only other option to improve performance would be all wheel drive, and I don't see that happening.
