Sounds like a hurricane outside and it keeps settin off the car alarms....

Sustained winds of 47mph and gusts reaching 62mph.....

Someone was outside leaning into the wind and it held him for a good 10 seconds before the gust ended :)

My friend adrian and i just put on our jackets and went running around in the wind...

JESUS H CHRIST

I got blown into a wooden fence and couldnt pull myself off it....

Got knocked off my feet twice and fell and also nearly thrown into a nearby pond...

Our place makes an AMAZING wind tunnel, by the amount of dead birds in the complex, i would guess the wind was whipping through here at about 80-90ish....

Bah, it's only 27 now ya wuss. :p

Uhh, not really...

That's odd. I looked up Ultriet or whatever the name of the town you live in is.

Hmm, oh well. Sorry!

Its utrecht, but it comes up as Di Bilt for the weather... I just use amsterdam because its not much farther away and i would imaging have more accurate readings than a town the size of my complex here...

Holy crap :(

But the rest of northern Europe was also badly affected with 80 mph gales whipping off roofs and causing disruption to rail, flights and road networks.

In Germany, a man died when the roof of his house collapsed, while a 39-year-old Dutch woman was also killed in the German town of Bocholt, close to the border with the Netherlands, when a tree hit her family's car. A 56-year-old farmer died after being struck by lightning.

In the eastern Dutch town of Enschede a man died from being hit by a tree, while a 77-year-old man lost his footing and died when he fell into a fence in the town of Hilversum. Another person is feared dead after being swept into the sea near Scheveningen, The Hague.

Pretty major problems here in the UK.

Woke up this morning, to see the trees outside flailing around, and the wind sounding as if it was going to blow the windows in. The rain was practically horizontal.

Around the country there has been widespread disruption. At least 6 people were killed by falling trees, including a 3 year old who died when a tree fell on the pushchair. Over 100,000 people in Wales are without electricity as main power lines have been blown down.

I decided to stay in this morning.

Not quite.

These recent winds were storm force, up to 90 mph. The winds that hit the UK in 1987 and in 1990 were true hurricanes (wind speeds were up to 110 mph IIRC).
