sheering problems with GF2 GTS

I gladly went in on the staples elsa GF2 GTS 32mb DDR deal... but since it's winter break I had my card shipped home where I have an Asus P5A based K62(3d)-350 system... due to viruses I wiped my system clean with the annual fdisk, format and before installing win98SE I put in my new card... everything went fine until I ran the card driver install program and noticed that a distince vertical line on the picture was sheered... I installed the stock drivers and then installed the detonator 3 drivers to no avail... the sheering seems to always be on the same point on the screen and happens regardless if it's 2d or 3d output... It's pretty damn annoying to say the least and I wasn't having these problems with the PCI ATI 128 card...

before I installed the drivers for the card I downloaded and installed the agp drivers from the ali web site...

is anyone else having this problem? is my card bad?
