She said, "God is my priority... not you"

Hmmm...

Perhaps some of you have heard of my saga with the daughter of my company's president. For a recap: I feel that I'm in a less than optimal situation in the event of discord between me and said daughter. So, it now appears, that her priority not only presented me to her, but He's also keeping me away (she's a Christian missionary and I'm a deist, for the curious). Am I the only one that sees this as a paradox? At what point do those who are physically involved with your life take precedence over the faceless entity? I just can't seem to wrap my head around the concept that the omniscient and omnipotent one loves all and promotes eternal happiness, yet deters one of His servants from it for the sake of more dedicated worship.

Any input is appreciated, even if they are flames :)

I think you answered your own question why she dumped you. It makes sense to her, not to you. That's a biggie.

You can't find the answers
Till you learn to question;
You won't appear stupid
Just ask for direction.

God never forces his servants into sacrifice, Frost. Missionaries CHOOSE that life. God calls people to serve, but does not twist their arms.

I am not sure of what advice I could give in this situation, because I don't know enough, so I'd rather not make any assumptions. But I suppose it depends on her level of commitment to what she believes in as well as yours. As always, communication is the key.
I hope things work out for you and I wish you the best.

I hear ya, and it's not that I even thought we were in any way serious, I was just curious about the statement she made.

Elita1: I can understand that, however, she always said, "God is telling me to be a missionary", "God is telling me I should hold Him above all else", etc..

I respect her conviction.

This is your way out, my friend! You were worried about the impropriety and potential repercussions of the friendship before, and now she has given you the perfect way out. You cannot and should not interfere with her faith.

Look at this as the perfect opportunity to create some space for yourself and bow out gracefully.

She is very, very young... and so are you.

If things were different, you might end up with 3 kids and a minivan! Trust me, if Mr Isla only knew what he was getting into when he decided to lead me to Salvation.... :D

Consider this a blessing in disguise.
