Any Shaw internet users using Shaw Lite Speed Service. It's in between dail-up & cable speeds (5X dail-up). Any impressions? I don't really download a lot of stuff......... just surfing the net basically. Thanks

Cheers,

As far as I know, its about 12-15k/sec up and down.. But you still get the benefits of low pings for gaming... and even though its capped low, its still alot faster then dialup.. servers respond more quickly..

I guess its all right if you just do basic surfing and need to save cash.. but its truely a better deal to get the full package..

I get 550k/sec downloads and 120k/sec uploads, and two static IPs for $35.95.. per month.

Shaw rocks! I've had zero noticeable downtime in about 4 months now.. before it was very rare and very briefly if it was ever down.

Are those figures in kbytes or kbits? If they're kbytes that's very nice. I pay $29,95+tx for average 350KB/s down and 16KB/s up. :( I have seen over 500KB/s before, but it's rare. And upload always, always sucks (bogs down the connection too).

I have similar speeds to daz. Shaw is great!

is the few $ you save worth dropping that much speed? I find the full service a deal, compared to what most of our southern couterparts are paying.

It is when your buying some rental properties ;) It's all about priorities :D A little sacrifice now for some big rewards later :D

As much as I hate cablevision, I must say their optimumonline rocks. For $49 a month I get over 1MB a second DL at good times, but I can get over 900KB almost all times if I get a good server, which is always rare. And the UL needs some help it's still around 100KB though.
