this is not a spoof.. all of these threads are serious.

this stuff always happens to me and i wanted to know if anyone else had the same problems..

using an electric since a manual cuts me up, but, an electric makes my neck get all raw afterwards..

maybe I am pushing too hard? I don?t know..

what?s a good aftershave? i just use Aqua Velva.. numbs the pain with all the alcohol, but I don?t know if that?s the best approach..

Try Noxema Shaving cream with a Gillette Mach 3 razor. Noxema comes with Benzocaine which numbs the razor burn you would normally get after shaving. I use regular Noxema moisturizing cream when I shave, then shower and rinse my face afterwards. No razor burn and more importantly no post shaving strawberry patches.;)

P.S. If you insist on using an electric razor, then I suggest you try one of these two things: A) Try washing your face and neck with soap and warm water BEFORE you shave, dry your face, then shave. or B) Buy some of those pre-shave lotions made specifically for people who use electric razors.

You have to give your skin times to adjust to the shaver.
It is usually around a month. If after that time your skin still produce rashes then switch to different type.
If you use foil then switch to non foil, vice versa.

What kind of electric? I use the Norelco style with the three independent spinning blades, and it works well.

I have always used the Remmington 3 foil one.. but it was smashed on a trip so I swtiched to the 2 foil one a few days ago. I will be getting a new 3 foil one but not for another 2 weeks.

The circular ones never worked too well for me.

If you've been using a razor recently, you have to give your skin time to adjust to the electric shaver. Sometimes it can take a few weeks or so. I find though its better to shave before you take a shower with the electric rather than after. That is unless you have a Wet/Dry, which I would use in the shower...

Happens to me. I use Old Spice... yeah I know it stinks but hey it was a present and I can't really get more... Anyways, you should get used to it after a while and you may want to use some moisturizer, it helps.

my neck gets red if I shave before taking a shower. the soap I use (Dove) must irritate the newly shaved skin. solution? I shave after taking a shower.

just use a razor man...use mach3 cuz it cuts more...therefore, less strokes...therefore..less iritation............i found mach3 is harder to cut urself than other razors (believe or not, imo, and in my experience,...it's true)

well, just use lotion or something......u probably have very dry skin in the morning.........

(well, i replied mainly cuz i wanted them 2 threads on top of each other..aha)

Well, if a safety razor is cutting you, and an electric is leaving your skin raw, you have but one choice... straight razor

Throw a little aftershave on it and watch it sizzle..takes awhile for your skin to adjust.

I started using after shave last week, because the post shave burn was killing too much. Oh god that pain hurts for the first few seconds, but it feels so damn good after.

my face got used to an electric shaver (norelco)... but my neck never did..... so back to the mach 3 for me.. still gets irritated a bit, but not as bad as the electric. also a much closer shave ;) and damn, i made the mistake of using a cheapo use once or twice one blade razors.... that thing tore my neck into pieces!!!!
