Get shaving soap, a mug, and a brush. Much better than any cream on the market.

Oh, and use either a Schick Quattro or a straight razor for the best shave.

Shaving soap: Wal-Mart and many drug stores sell a Colgate-brand shaving soap. You can get better ones from a few other stores, or try Caswell-Massey (I think they have a website).

Brush: Most of the above places.

Mug: Any mug with the same internal diameter of the soap and a wide mouth will work.

Schick Quattro: Drug store or grocery store.

Straight razor: ONLY buy from a reputable cutlery store, learn how to use it BEFORE you use it (It's an extremely sharp blade. Just about any motion parallel to the blade will end up with you cut. Using it at the wrong angle can end up with you cut. Cuts on the face are bad. Cuts on the throat can be death), and be VERY careful using it, if you value your life. There's a reason it's known as a cutthroat razor. Hence, I suggest using a Quattro. However, if you can use a straight razor well, you will get the best shave out there.

the funny thing... my doc was saying the human hair folicle isn't designed to be shaved. she said shaving is no good for the face or skin.

she suggested using this thing called "magic shave."

i never heard of this mild nair-eqse solutions. supposedly it's mild enough to use on the face 2-3x per week.

anyone have experience with it? and where can i buy some?

So it's not designed to be cut by a razor, but it's designed to be stripped off by a chemical?

You need a new doctor.

We aren't "designed" for a lot of things that we do (drinking alcohol is an example). I think the doctor meant that "magic shave" is "designed" to remove hair without the trauma caused by a razor.

Its made for black dudes who have really tough beards and really sensitive skin. You can pick it up at Walgreens or CVS.

For aftershave, try the Nivea or Neutrogena branded stuff. Try a few types till you find what you like.

hold on a second, would people just use after shave if they started noticing redness after they shave? becuz this is what I get sometimes, redness, and it's annoying! would aftershave really help?

It does help, I mean shaving you are literally scaping off a layer or two of skin with the hair. Anything that will add some moisture and soothing to that area cant be bad. Dont buy the crap that has alcohol in it, buy some lotiony stuff.

I really like the stuff, and your skin doesnt feel so "tight" after you use some.
