I always thought the paper masks were to mitigate you infecting others.

That's about it...and they're only marginally effective for that.

A) I dont think that I've ever seen anyone in public wearing a mask properly
And
B) Its not going to stop you catching this virus.

I wore a beard for maybe 2 weeks about 3-4 years ago. And way back when. Otherwise, I'm clean shaven, although I've taken to not shaving more than 2-3 times a week, even once sometimes, but if I have to start wearing my N95's I'll be shaving regularly.

And I believe I do wear mine properly. That would mean no air gets into your lungs that doesn't go through the fabric. I have some with, some without those one way slap-shut doors. Those make me nervous. They may be fine for smoke and dust, where 100% isn't an important goal. But for a virulent pathogen, 100% is really what you're hoping for.

I don't know how little it takes of covid-19 to infect you. A single viral body????

No, didn't know there were sizes, and certainly not tested. Only my own sense of the fit. I did do some research in choosing mine and have had a few that I didn't like, didn't seem to fit me well. I'm not home now so can't tell you what I have. Probably around 20-25 of mainly two kinds, one with the trap doors.

I saw someone selling masks (on Amazon I think) for $1199.

I looked the other day at what kind of masks i had at work. They're 3M N95's but i don't now remember which model off hand. 20 pack minus probably only a couple that i've used. Maybe my ship has come in $$$$$$

As for the whole beard thing i foresee something along these lines:
CDC: Yeah... Space, we need you to shave that, um... whatever that is on your face.
Me: OK, no problem. (goes & shaves)

I think it only meets the legal definition of price gouging if there is a state of emergency declared. Any other time its just good ol capitolism.
