Shaun of the Dead

I just watched Shaun of the Dead last night on Showtime, and it was on again this morning while I was getting ready for work.

I love this movie! I was skeptical of it from the trailers - I don't generally like horror-comedy movies - but it manages to strike just the right balance. It's genuinely witty and funny, while still giving a good scare now and then. If Showtime has to show the same movies over and over (as it appears they do), I hope they keep showing this one!

Agreed... I feel like I should be ashamed to like this movie because it's so bad... but it's so damn good!

I think it's really clever, even if it's also pretty lowbrow. I keep thinking about moments of it (e.g., the part where Shaun and his buddy are digging through the box of LPs to figure out which ones to throw at the zombies) and laughing out loud even now.

I've always really liked it as well. It's also a nice departure from American zombie flicks due to the different scenery and the accents.

Can't forget the Winchester! 😀

Great film. I like the way the DVD covers "plot holes" in the extra material, i.e. what happens to Dianne after she gets pulled out into the zombie horde, how does Ed end up in the shed.

EDIT: added commentary.

LOL I loved that movie. The best part is when Queen - Don't Stop Me Now comes on and they start beating a zombie up with pool sticks 😀

I thought it was funny, but I was surprised, and a little disgusted, when the one dude got his guts pulled out.

What's particuarly good is that in the very first shot, the guy who plays Sean is funnier than a lot of comedians just having a zoned out look while eating peanuts and beer.

One of my favorites.
Also check out the british show Spaced with the main characters from Shaun. Hilarious.

They're also making a cop movie spoof too. 🙂
