Shatted my ip5 display into a million pieces. Cost to fix?

Problem with those displays is the LCD is fused to the digitizer. I've seen them go for about $60 but it's a bit of a pain to do yourself.

Apple store? Probably $99, as it seems like everything not covered under warranty is $99 from them. And, they will likely just replace it with a refurb.

You might be able to get one cheaper if you find one with a good screen, but broken internals, as you can just swap them / have an iPhone repair shop swap them.

if it's only a hundred bucks at the apple store then I'm just gonna do that.

The 3rd party shops are more than $100 so I'd be surprised if it was $99 at the Apple Store.

Don't be surprised if it's not $99, I seem to recall that it was $149 in the past for any repair/replacement, but I could be wrong.

Hmmm... Interesting. It seems the prices have come down. My local shop is doing it for $75 CAD. They claim it's with OEM parts, but somehow I don't believe them. That said, my wife's iPhone 5 from that shop is a refurb, and the screen look fine. Maybe the colour balance isn't the same I'm not sure, but I think most people would have a hard time noticing.

Good to know.

P.S. Am I the only one that finds the thread title amusing? That would be one painful shat.

When a coworker's son broke his iPhone 5C's screen, my coworker got it done at some Apple-oriented repair place for somewhere between $80-100. The only thing is... I've heard that Apple is really picky about taking phones back with unofficial hardware. So, if you get one of those places to replace your screen, good luck on ever trading it in or something like that. 😛

As I already mentioned in another thread, I'll do it at-cost. The last screen I ordered was only $27 (still have an extra white one).

Yes, the iPhone 5/5S models are extremely easy to do yourself. Just order the part off eBay or Amazon and give it a shot.

The biggest difficulty you might have is if you've bent the metal band surrounding the screen. You may have to bend it or file it away.

Geez. We know you'd have done the work for free, and that's nice of you, but $55 is definitely a great deal.
