Former Star Trek Captain William Shatner is hoping to bring the cult sci-fi show back to TV--he's writing a pilot for a prequel show.

The actor, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series, wants to bring the glory days back to the show and is working on a treatment that will pre-date the first episode.

He says, "I'm writing a couple of books on the adolescent Captain Kirk/Spock thing as a prequel. It's also an idea for CBS to use as the next series of Star Trek."

Speaking as a Trek fan: Please for the love of god let it die. It has been suffering for the last cople movies and the Enterprise series was crap.

It is over. Get some closure and find something else to do.

They're getting FAR too close to the idea that was originally Star Trek VI...They were planning on turning Kirk, Spock, Scotty and McCoy into teenaged hearthrobs, by taking it back to their Academy days.

I don't like it.

You're abviously not a fan any more..

The whole point of the Star Trek universe is that it's infinitely expandable.. It just requires some good writing (not Berman)..

I can't wait for the next Star Trek series.. I actually loved Enterprise. Too many people that badmouth Enterprise didn't watch enough to even follow the continuing plot.

Hey, I suffered through all the DS9 episodes about Bajoran religion and politics with everyone else. I paid my dues.:p

Enterprise just didn't feel right.

I'd be fine with more Star Trek, but I don't think Shatner is the person to bring it back. His ego would be all over it. He couldn't handle it that Kirk was killed in Generations so he wrote a novel that brought Kirk back.

But the Dominon War was bad @$$
although I don't understand the Orb of the prophets thing still and it still distrubs me.

BTW a new series taken place in the cannon TOS would be better than enterpirse if they get the tech right.

Not everyone had to like all series.. I'm not a fan of the original Star Trek.. And, the first two seasons of TNG were horrible. I didn't care for the first two seasons of DS9 - but the rest was awesome.. I watched every episode in order on DVD.

Then.. Voyager.. bleh.. I still liked it better than any other TV show at the time - just didn't think it was on par with other Star Trek.

Then.. Enterprise.. I hated it at first but then grew into loving it. I liked the Temporal War because it allowed the series to show something new without fvcking with the Star Trek timeline.. Also, it was much darker than the other series - and I enjoyed that.

I honestly can't say that I disliked one season of TNG more than another. There were certainly a few weak episodes here and there but that is to be expected.

Liked DS9 (especially the later seasons) and Voyager (kind of meh on the ending though).

I hope the next series is a 90210 type show that takes place at the Academy.

"OMG, did you see what Prof Senti was wearing, he so does not have the legs for that."

trekkies....I don't really know much about star trek but that movie had me laughing a whole bunch. Seeing some dude go into radio shack to get parts for building some stupid star trek thing was awesome. And of course he got to radio shack in some black contraption of death that he made based on some episode. Oh yeah, or the guy dressed up as a girl singing star trek songs.
