What I think she deserves is to be addressed on her issues.
This. Although I disagree with her on many issues, I can't help but wonder at the hatred and vitrol directed at her and her family. I'm appalled at the abject ugliness of human beings who fancy themselves as somehow enlightened. There is no shame...and the depravity of man has no bounds.

Stop with the self hate for a minute and read what you said. If the depravity of man had no bounds you would find none of this appalling.
These are not mutually exclusive concepts...here, let me illustrate...Woman killed, fetus cut from body

Capeesh?

That they aren't mutually exclusive speaks to the fact you are incorrect. Your depravity has limits and you are a man.

Obama won and did so with a record of strikingly little accomplishment.

There's some truth to that, but what accomplishment do you want?

Is long government service necessarily a good thing in a president? Can I just go grab any Senator with 20 years and you're ok with it?

Or is executive experience the issue? Two of our worst recent presidents had been governor - Ragan and George W. Bush. Palin made how bad a governor can be clear.

Or maybe you want Mark Sanford or Jesse Ventura or the secessionat from Texas.

Or maybe you want business accompishment - so I can put former CEO's like Dick Cheney or Henry Paulson in.

We had our chance with someone with great political leadership - the man who was an important leader in developing the internet, later a Nobel Prie winner largely for his work to make the world aware of the huge threat of climate change - but thanks to 300 Florida voters and some other things there, he did not get the presidency. But even he had his concerns - many did not see the sort of presidential leadershup in him in the campaign that we'd like.

So, how much is it really an issue for Obama not to have the paper exeperience, and isn't it actually an indication of his other qualities that he did rise without them?

I'm not saying it always is the reason - George W. Bush rose fast too for other reasons - but in this case, IMO, it is the reason.

Obama's paper experience doesn't guarantee anything good about his presidency, but it doesn't mean it's bad, either, IMO.

Palin is or is not going to be a future candidate or someone of national importance in some other way. Time will tell. Let's take this up when the time comes.

I'd rather deal with her now and prevent the problem, just as we should have with George W. Bush. Nixon 'came back' as she could, and look how well that went when the nation ignored his character issues that led to his already long being called 'tricky dick'. Palin should become as unelectable as Dan Quayle.

Not pointing out her flaws does the disservice to her supporters of not correcting their ignorance that leaves them not understanding why she is a terrible candidate.

Does anyone here admit to liking Palin?

I actually found her a tremendous breath of fresh air amongst a motley lot of dull and duller politicians during the past election cycle, Obama included.

I guess it is hard to characterize her as dull, but I'll take dull and prudent over scary and exciting any day. ;)
